Strathcona County kicks off Alberta Seniors’ Week 2015 - Provincial Launch

Seniors’ Week, opened with a provincial launch breakfast event at the Ardrossan Recreation Complex on June 1. Ernie Hui, Seniors Deputy Minister and Strathcona County Family and Community Services kicked off a week of events celebrating Alberta seniors.

Seniors’ Week began 30 years ago when Strathcona County resident Alice Modin convinced county council to declare an annual Seniors’ Day. The first Seniors’ Day later expanded to a week-long Seniors Week. Nelson Modin, with sister Betty Henderson (son and daughter of Alice Modin), attended the Ardrossan kick-off event to accept a provincial proclamation on behalf of seniors in Alberta.
